Famous for its beautiful brownstones and rich history, the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant, or Bed-Stuy, is a community on the rise.
There’s plenty to do in this classic Brooklyn community. New bars and small businesses are opening up each year. Markets and retail stores line the main thoroughfare, drawing heavy foot traffic throughout the day. The artists’ community in Bed-Stuy is active, with galleries and boutiques throughout the neighborhood.
Bedford-Stuyvesant is in a period of resurgence, with scores of artists, young professionals, and growing families moving into the district each year. Real estate in the neighborhood consists of mainly multi-story row houses and a few apartment buildings. The area is known for its tree-lined streets, stately brownstones, and beautiful Victorian architecture.
One of the most distinctive parts of the growing community is the large outdoor murals that dot the landscape. Many of the wallscapes honor famous individuals who once called Bed-Stuy home.
